Referrals
It is not necessary to have a doctor’s referral to see a clinical psychologist, however gaining a referral can be a good idea for two reasons:
- Medicare rebates are available for part of the session fee if your GP writes a ‘GP Mental Health Care Plan’.
- Keeping your GP informed about your psychological needs means they are better placed to meet your needs now and to assist you in the future.
If you receive a referral and Mental Health Care Plan from your GP, please email these to us before your first appointment. If eligible we can process your rebate for you at the time of payment, with payment being directly deposited into your account nominated with Medicare. If you would like to claim privately using your Health fund, please let us know and we will provide you with a receipt.
